Natural stone from the French Pyrenees

Natural stone from the French Pyrenees

Like any knife, the Glenn is sharpened with a good natural stone. We work with the last French factory of natural sharpening stones, located at the foot of the Pyrenees.

Tip for sharpening your Glenn: It is necessary to soak the stone for a few minutes in water before using it. Contact with the blade will be softer. To sharpen your knife blade, simply rub firmly, alternating each side of the edge, while moving it along its length, trying to maintain an angle of around 20°.

Maintenance : This stone does not require any special maintenance. After a certain time of use and if necessary, you can clean the stone with dishwashing detergent, by brushing it under hot water.

Dimension : 10cm * 1.5cm * 0.8cm

Why is the Glenn used by the sailors of Plouescat?

The Glenn is a traditional technical knife used by Breton sailors. Made from recycled fishing nets, it has an elongated handle for a good grip as well as a 2.5mm blade made of MA5 martensitic stainless steel. The safety notch has also been designed so that it can be used safely even on one's boat.

  • Yecʼhed mat ! (Santé !)

Can one personalize their Glenn?

Obviously, giving an original gift has never been so simple! The Glenn knife can be personalized directly on the website. Have your dad's first name, an important date, or even the name of his boat engraved. The personalization is done directly on the website where you can choose the engraving of your choice.

Why is each Glenn unique?

On one hand, each Glenn knife has an identification number on its blade. This takes the form of a boat registration number and indicates the origin port of the fishing nets used in its manufacture. On the other hand, scallop shells are integrated into the handle during manufacturing. Therefore, no Glenn knife handle is identical to another.

"And the blade...?

The Glenn is a technical knife created for fishing sailors. The blade thickness is 2.5mm. We use high-performance MA5 steel that we additionally treat with cryogenization, which allows it to resist corrosion much more when in contact with seawater. To keep it impeccable for life, we recommend wiping the blade with a cloth after use and sharpening it with a stone at a 20° angle.

What is the delivery time?

We ship orders within 5 to 7 days. If your Glenn knife is personalized and requires engraving, this timeframe remains unchanged.
